The prize, given by the Feniss foundation, distinguishes companies which manufacture their products without planned obsolescence and work respecting the environment
BARCELONA —01/06/2016— Another award adds to the long list of prizes granted to ATP by the superb quality of its products and its respect for the environment. In this case, we talk about the ISSOP seal (Sustainable Innovation Without Planned Obsolescence, in Spanish), issued last January by the Feniss foundation to a select group of companies which manufacture items designed in order to last and to work smoothly as long as possible. Of these, ATP is the only member of the public lighting and street furniture sector, which gives an idea of the excellence achieved by their products and shows the distance from other corporations in the same industry.
As the name of this certificate indicates, the winning firms produce goods free of planned obsolescence, with a reparation cost which has to be lower than the price of obtaining a replacement. It is also necessary that the products can be updated with the latest technology without having to buy a new device, and that they come with no hidden software or firmware which allows the manufacturer to alter them directly or remotely.
It is also essential for getting the seal that the warranty offered by the awarded company is longer than the mandatory two years –"real and with no small print", they point out from the foundation– and that the philosophy of the corporation, in the words of Feniss, is based on "sustainability; respect for the environment, the employees and the customers; solidarity, sharing wealth, and recycling."
In this sense, ATP not only meets the set requirements, but surpasses them widely: all its items have a 10-year warranty –the longest in the sector–, and the raw materials used for manufacturing them are 100 % recyclable. Furthermore, we have to consider the contribution of the Eco-saving lights, which consume considerably less energy than the rest, and the elimination of light pollution (in many cases it reaches 0 % upper hemisphere flux). This commitment to durability and reuse leads to a lower consumption of resources, a substantial energy saving, and a reduction of the generated pollution.
Such features allow ATP to be a part of the outstanding business elite awarded with the ISSOP certificate, which forms the forefront in the defense of a fairer and more responsible production model, with maximum guarantees for the customers and the general public. This prize, in the end, is the result of a history of more than 45 years and a corporate philosophy focused on quality and ecology.
A pioneering seal extremely demanding with the candidates
The ISSOP seal, which this year was awarded for the first time and is the only prize recognizing the manufacture without planned obsolescence, is governed by very strict criteria regarding durability, sustainability, security and environmental preservation. In fact, in this opening edition, only eight companies have got the prize, among which are, along with ATP, heavyweights such as Casio.
After obtaining the seal, the award-winning enterprises sign a document in which they undertake to keep their methods and to continue improving in the same direction. Today there are more than 30 corporations that have requested the seal, so they will undergo the scrutiny by Feniss to determine if they meet all requirements.
Why ATP ?:
Products made from unique materials, built to last
It is no coincidence that Feniss foundation has awarded ATP with the ISSOP seal: the company provides the ultimate solution to the major problems of street lighting -corrosion, vandalism and electrocution-, and this prevents the products having to be replaced in a short time. To do this, all ATP items are manufactured with latest-generation engineered polymers, exclusively formulated, which are immune to corrosion, vandal-proof, and do not conduct electricity.
Such compounds –the T5, for diffusers; and the S7, for bases, columns, arms and chassis– resist the most adverse conditions and perfectly protect the internal components of the luminaries, which prodigiously extends the life of the street lights and eliminates maintenance. Tropical storms, intense sunlight, extreme humidity, polluted or toxic environments; none of these threats affect such polymers.
These unique characteristics give such a high durability to APT articles, and this is the reason which allows the corporation to offer the mentioned 10-year warranty. Matching with the values defended by Feniss and the ISSOP certificate, the T5 and S7 are 100 % recyclable, and the processes needed for processing them are inexpensive and environmentally friendly.
The ISSOP seal defined by Feniss
"The ISSOP seal distinguishes those organizations and individuals who are decisively committed to excellence in the field of sustainability and respect for the environment and for people, in order to promote a shift to a new paradigm based on an economic model where the common good is the goal".
