ATP illuminates the coastal town of Maro, Málaga, with corrosion-resistant solutions

MARO —22/3/2024— Maro, a charming spot on the coast of Málaga (Spain) known for its crystal-clear beaches and Mediterranean atmosphere, has taken a step towards the future with the renovation of its public lighting. Over 80 discharge luminaires have been replaced by ATP Lighting's Siglo XLA LED models, enhancing energy efficiency and improving the lighting quality of the area.

The meticulously planned and executed project has preserved the existing ATP public lighting columns, which have remained in perfect condition over the years due to their immunity to corrosion and resistance to the marine environment. While the columns had been installed with discharge luminaires for years, their durability and reliability have allowed them to be retained and fitted with new LED luminaires.

ATP Lighting's Siglo XLA luminaires, equipped with the latest technological innovations, have been customized with optics and power levels specifically tailored for the project, ensuring optimized consumption with over 70% energy savings, and lighting that meets the most demanding standards of uniformity and efficiency. Additionally, the inclusion of the Comfort Diffuser® in the luminaires provides a pleasant and safe visual experience for the inhabitants and visitors of Maro, softening the light and eliminating glare.

Corrosion resistance and warm color temperature

A key strategic decision was the choice of a warm color temperature, which not only creates a cozy and pleasant atmosphere but also minimizes the blue component in the spectral radiance, thereby reducing light pollution and protecting sensitive marine ecosystems. It is important to note that the same warm color temperature can vary in the percentage of blue spectral component by up to 45% depending on the manufacturer. ATP ensures that its warm color temperatures have the lowest blue indices on the market. This project not only enhances the safety and well-being of the local community but also contributes to the preservation of Maro's unique natural environment.

The immunity to corrosion of ATP lighting has been essential in this intervention. The installed Siglo XLA luminaires are made of engineering technical polymers and come with a comprehensive 10-year warranty even in extreme conditions of humidity, temperature, and salinity. This feature contributes to cost savings in maintenance, especially when it comes to lighting by the sea, which has been a decisive advantage over other proposals.
