Classic-style LED luminaires with warm color temperature suitable for rural ambiance
LANUZA —14/6/2024— The comprehensive lighting renovation project in Lanuza, situated at 1265 meters altitude in El Valle de Tena (Huesca, Spain), represents a significant milestone in the pursuit of energy efficiency and lighting quality in a unique mountainous environment. In collaboration with ATP Lighting, the municipality of Lanuza has successfully transitioned to LED technology, ensuring optimal and sustainable lighting for its residents and visitors.
With this project, ATP continues its campaign to renew and upgrade public lighting in the Aragonese Pyrenees, having already undertaken interventions in other notable locations such as Villanúa and Castiello de Jaca.
About Lanuza
Located in Huesca, Spain, Lanuza emerges as a unique enclave in the Tena Valley. Its history, marked by resilience and renewal, makes it an emblematic destination in the Aragonese Pyrenees. After decades of community effort, Lanuza has been revitalized, becoming a haven of natural beauty and tranquility for residents and travelers alike. Additionally, the renowned Pirineos Sur Festival has solidified its position as a culturally significant destination on the international stage.
Project details
The lighting renovation in Lanuza was a carefully planned and executed process. The replacement of existing luminaires with ATP Lighting's classic Villa XLA models in LED, featuring an ultra-warm color temperature of 2200 K, marks a crucial step towards energy efficiency and aesthetic improvement of the village. Additionally, Metrópoli LP luminaires, with a more contemporary style, were installed to illuminate the access paths to the town.
The decision to opt for ATP Lighting was based on the proven durability of their products, backed by a 10-year warranty even under adverse weather conditions. The municipality was highly satisfied with the long-term resilience and reliability of the products in such a demanding environment, hence their renewed choice of ATP solutions.
Immunity to surges and the ability to maintain the aesthetic appeal of the surroundings, characterized by stone houses, were fundamental aspects in the luminaire selection.
Results and benefits
The project has yielded tangible and significant benefits for Lanuza. The transition to LED has enabled energy savings exceeding 70%, thus contributing to the environmental and economic sustainability of the municipality. Moreover, the improvement in lighting quality, facilitated by LED technology and the use of Comfort Diffuser®, has provided an optimal and more comfortable visual experience for residents and visitors.
ATP's ultra-warm 2200 K color temperature emits a spectral radiant flux of blues of only 1.28% (wavelengths less than 440 nm), contributing to preserving the darkness of the night sky in the sensitive environment of the Aragonese Pyrenees. ATP ensures that their ultra-warm color temperatures, such as 2200 K, have the lowest blue content in the market. Furthermore, ATP's 2200 K achieves faithful and natural color reproduction, with a color rendering index exceeding 70.
The combination of low blue content, appropriate power, and optimal light direction to prevent over-illumination makes it possible for municipalities opting for such projects, like Lanuza, to attain quality sky certifications, including Starlight. The integration of innovative technology with respect for the aesthetic and warm environment of Lanuza has been key to the success of the lighting renovation.
Funding and collaboration
The Lanuza project was carried out with European funds from the Sustainable Urban Development 5000 (DUS 5000) program, managed by IDAE (Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy). This collaboration between public and private entities has proven essential in promoting responsible modernization and sustainable development in the Aragonese Pyrenees region.
The lighting renovation in Lanuza serves as an inspiring example of how technological innovation can harmoniously merge with heritage preservation and community quality of life.
