The forty-fifth congress edition, held in Pamplona, sets attendance records and stands out for the high-quality lectures
PAMPLONA —14/5/2019— ATP did not miss the XLV National Lighting Symposium, the benchmark conference annually organized by the Spanish Lighting Committee, in which experts on the sector from all over the country gather to share knowledge on different aspects of their area of expertise. This Symposium edition, held in Pamplona on March 8, 9 and 10, exceeded attendance expectations compared to previous years, and stood out for the high-quality of the lectures.
ATP Iluminación, which has been sponsoring this congress for more than three decades, was represented by three of its specialists. In the lecture entitled 'Light pollution and consequences on lighting results', the director of ATP's Lighting Department, Andrés Armañanzas, explained that in order to preserve the quality of the night sky it is not only important to control the percentage of UFF (upward flux fraction) emitted by LED luminaires, but it is also essential to regulate the level of lighting that reaches on the pavement –to reduce rebound– and ensure an optimal use of light with a good photometric distribution.
On the other hand, in the lecture entitled 'LED and what is invisible to the eye', Guillermo Redrado, operations vice-president of the company, spoke about the key points of a luminaire, which are instrumental for a project success, but that are not usually valued: choice of the LED diode type, (medium or high power), the internal architecture of the luminaire, the electrical and electronic design of the lighting unit, and protection against the penetration of solid or liquid materials into the enclosure.
Finally, Sandra Solán, the director of Electronic R+D+I of ATP, addressed the lessons learned on the project implementation with this technology, emphasizing the issues of giving excessive dimensions to certain parameters of diode luminaires in the lecture entitled 'Overdimensioning LED luminaires... How far can we go?'.
With its contributions, ATP Illuminación showed ways to innovate and ingeniously solve the issues posed by LED technology. The company is specialized in the design and manufacture of corrosion-resistant polymer outdoor lighting, ideal for coastal areas, parks, gardens and hotels, has celebrated its 50th anniversary on July 7 with a commemorative event held at its central facilities, located precisely in Navarre.
