This recognition corresponds to the first edition of the Urban Solutions Lightning Prize.
SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA —28/9/2023— The project 'Comprehensive Outdoor Lighting Renovation' carried out by ATP Lighting in collaboration with the UTE Constructora San José-Sielvigo in Cangas de Morrazo has been honored with the prestigious prize for the best road or environmental lighting at the I Lighting Awards presented by the Urban Solutions Symposium 2023. This event recognizes the best performances in public lighting in Spanish cities, emphasizing the importance of efficient lighting in improving the quality of life for citizens and urban sustainability.
The Lighting Awards were created with the purpose of acknowledging and rewarding outstanding contributions to public lighting in Spain over the past year. This recognition reflects the importance of lighting infrastructure in the safety, aesthetics, and energy efficiency of cities, as stated by Roberto Carlos González Fernández, director of the Urban Solutions Symposium and chairman of the jury.
The jury for these awards was composed of lighting and energy experts who evaluated numerous projects submitted by municipalities and entities from all over Spain:
'We had a lengthy deliberation due to the great diversity and quality of the projects submitted, but in the end, we reached a decision, giving special consideration to design, light levels, compliance with regulations, technology used in control, concern for light pollution, use of dynamic systems, the challenge in the execution area, energy efficiency levels, and electricity consumption reduction, as well as integration with renewable energies', noted Roberto Carlos González Fernández.
The awards will be presented on Friday, October 6, during the closing session of the Urban Solutions Symposium, organized by the Cluster of Renewable Energies of Galicia (CLUERGAL) at the City of Culture in Santiago.

The project covered very different scenarios, from seaside promenades to parks, streets, and urban centers, so it was necessary to implement a mixed solution with diverse ATP models, both modern and classic, including Alfa, Enur Micro, Metrópoli, and the ornamental Villa. The following video of the project, filmed from a bird's-eye view with drones, shows the difference in terms of lighting levels, uniformity, and chromatic reproduction of the new lighting compared to the previous discharge scheme:
In summary, the new lighting has resulted in the following improvements compared to the previous discharge installation:
- Substantial reduction in energy consumption.
- Decreased light pollution.
- Glare control (thanks to the Comfort Diffuser®).
- Increased uniformity.
- Increased color rendering index.
- Enhanced safety.
- Increased overall lighting quality.
