IK10+:
Beyond vandal-proof street lights
Vandalism poses no risk to the integrity of ATP exterior lighting. The resistance of our luminaires has no equal in the market: they all pass impact tests beyond 50 joules, which is more than two times the maximum degree of mechanical resistance, IK10 (20 joules), established by the IEC 62262 standard. That is what we call IK10+. Thanks to our stringent laboratory tests –much more demanding than the established regulations– and to a constant research and innovation activity, we have managed to develop street lights capable of withstanding physical aggressions without suffering any damage.
The exceptional toughness of ATP products comes from the combination of the Engineered Technical Reinforced Polymer S7 –used for chassis, columns, bases and arms– with the high impact Transparent Tropicalized Thermo-Polymer T5 –for the diffusers, 200 times more resistant to shocks than the glass–. The mentioned materials, coupled with a rigorous assembly process and a strict quality control, have founded a new concept of strength: our products are made to be proof against riots, random collisions and deliberate breaking attempts. In brief, we have transformed the polymeric frame where the lamp and electrical components are sheltered in a virtually unbreakable bulwark for the most common threats.
ATP's emphasis on the resistance of its articles has been essential to leave behind the fragilities and limitations hitherto inherent to exterior lighting equipment. This results in a durability largely superior to other manufacturers' products, and also a radical reduction in maintenance costs and replacements due to vandalism. Along with immunity to corrosion, the ability to withstand impacts allows our luminaires to operate at full capacity during its entire lifespan. This means comfort for our client, who can stop worrying about the streetlights as soon as their installation is finished.
ATP was the first and remains the only manufacturer who holds a degree of protection IK10 for the pole and the access panel, and a category IP66 for pole-access panel enclosure, both certified by AENOR. This exclusive ATP seal prevents the penetration of solid bodies and fluids inside the pole, and that ensures full protection against electrocution and preserves all the internal components. Also, the IK10 guarantees the maximum impact resistance of the whole structure: in fact, poles and access panels pass without any difficulty hit tests beyond 50 joules, which is more than twice the UNE-EN 62262 standard for the IK10 category.
