Interview with Guillermo Redrado, chief operating officer
PAMPLONA —08/06/2016— Anti-electrocution lamp posts, immune to corrosion street lighting and urban furniture, LED solutions with international patents: these are some of the keystones of this Spanish company which already exports to over 50 countries. Under the guidance of Guillermo Redrado, COO of the company, we explore the domains of ATP Lighting to get to know its innovative vision of the future of cities.
Q. What distinguishes ATP from other companies in the sector?
A. Absolutely everything. ATP is a company which is oriented to the solution of the problems we see precisely in the products of our competitors. For us, it is inconceivable that a lamp post occasionally kills a person or a dog, or that a coastal municipality spends thousands of euros to keep the lighting installation of its promenade.
Q. How is developed a product with such characteristics?
A. First, through observation. Discovering the problems to be solved. In our case, research in materials that would meet our needs led to the development of technical engineering polymers and thermo-polymers of our own. Manufacturing our products with insulating materials we both solve the risk of electrical conductivity and the deterioration caused by rust in metals.
Q. What is the vision of ATP about LED lighting?
A. In ATP we have identified two major problems that our engineers have solved in a flawless manner. One has been the high dazzling of this light source, and we have solved with the revolutionary Comfort Diffuser®, which provides visual ease while maintaining outstanding performance and even increasing uniformity.
The second matter in which we have made an enormous effort is the efficient management of the heat generated by this light source. To solve it, we have created the Laminar Heatsink®,which reaches a level of dissipation that exceeds any existing method. We have recently patented and presented this invention internationally.
Q. What will be the role of public lighting in the cities of the future?
A. As manufacturers, we think that public lighting should bring solutions. It should not only be fully safe for people and provide an important source of savings for municipalities, but we know that is able to supply an immense amount of data that can improve the quality of life of people. In the field of smart cities, there is still much to develop, and we are convinced that public lighting will have a main role in this new era.
