A step toward sustainability as part of a comprehensive modernization plan
VALLADOLID—25/10/2024— As part of an ambitious comprehensive rehabilitation plan, the Boecillo Technology Park has undergone a complete renovation of its public lighting system with the aim of improving energy efficiency and the safety of the area.
This project, carried out with an investment of over 7 million euros and a 12-month execution period, also includes the replacement of trees and the urbanization of pavements and sidewalks. The lighting project was executed by ATP Lighting, which provided advanced and customized solutions to optimize the park’s lighting, reduce energy consumption, and improve road visibility.
Optimization of design and reduction of the number of luminaires
In this renovation, ATP Lighting managed to reduce the total number of necessary luminaires by almost 15% through an exhaustive study of the roads and the implementation of optics tailored to the characteristics of each area. Previously, the columns had dual-height lighting points, which have been replaced by single columns with a luminaire at the top. This redesign has allowed the required lighting levels to be maintained, ensuring uniformity on the roads and sidewalks without causing over-illumination.
Energy savings: 70% power reduction
Energy efficiency has been one of the project's key strengths. Through the use of state-of-the-art LED technology and the optimization of lighting points via a suitable lighting project and custom-made luminaires, the total installed power has been reduced by almost 70%. This significant savings has been made possible by the ability of LED luminaires to offer superior performance with lower energy consumption, which also contributes to a considerable reduction in the park’s carbon footprint.
High-Efficiency LED Technology: Aire® 3 Series, Aire® 5 Series, and Libra A luminaires
For this project, Aire® 3 Series, Aire® 5 Series, and Libra A luminaires from ATP were used, all designed to provide homogeneous, efficient, and long-lasting lighting. These luminaires feature a high-resistance engineered polymer design, capable of withstanding adverse conditions such as corrosion and impacts, ensuring their durability and low long-term maintenance. In addition, the incorporation of specific optics for each area of the park allows for precise light direction, improving efficiency and avoiding light pollution in the sky.
Comprehensive modernization plan
This lighting system renovation is part of a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for the Boecillo Technology Park, which includes the replacement of trees that obstructed visibility and progress in the urbanization of pavements and sidewalks. The project, driven by a grant from the Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castilla y León, aims to modernize the facilities and make the park a safer, more efficient, and attractive space for new companies.
The intervention in the lighting is only one part of this transformation, but it is key to improving the safety and efficiency of the park, aligning with new sustainability and energy-saving regulations. Furthermore, this renovation helps position the Boecillo Technology Park as a benchmark for attracting new investments and business projects in a modern, environmentally friendly setting.
Innovation and energy efficiency for the future of the Technology Park
The lighting renovation in the Boecillo Technology Park not only addresses the need for modernization but also reflects a commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. The integration of advanced luminaires and the optimization of resources have significantly reduced the number of lighting points and energy consumption without compromising the quality of the lighting. This project is a clear example of how technological innovation can contribute to the sustainable development of key infrastructure for the business and economic fabric of a region.
