The company's COO, Guillermo Redrado, gave the lecture «Reliability, protections and lifespan: key points for the choice of LED public lighting»
MEXICO —16/03/2017— ATP, the world leader in manufacturing street lighting and urban furniture from technical engineering polymers, presented its most recent solutions in LED outdoor lighting at the ELA 2017, held recently at the Citibanamex center, in Mexico. The Spanish company showed its latest generation luminaires with Laminar Heatsink® and Comfort Diffuser®, the two innovations created by ATP Lighting to solve the overheating of LED modules and the dazzling produced by this light source, respectively.
The firm also displayed what will be its next main global launch: the LED luminaire Aire®. Conceived from the beginning in order to combine with seamless perfection the Laminar Heatsink® and the Comfort Diffuser®, this groundbreaking luminaire stood out for its state-of-the-art design, as well as for a thermal management capability, performance and lifespan never seen before in outdoor LED lighting.
In relation to these solutions, ATP Lighting's chief operating officer, Guillermo Redrado, offered the lecture entitled "Reliability, protections and lifespan: key points for the choice of LED public lighting", which dealt in detail with the three essential aspects that must be taken into account before opting for one or another luminaire in order to perform a reliable installation: the heat dissipation, the electrical surge protection and the architecture of the LED luminaire and its components.
In addition to the presentation of the aforementioned novelties, the unique features of all ATP products were shown interactively in the stand of the firm: immunity to corrosion, anti-electrocution, maximum protection against vandalism (IK10+) and full sealing (IP66+). The visitors could, for example, use a hammer to test the resistance of the ATP diffusers, which are manufactured with the unique high impact Tropicalized Thermo-Polymer T5. In line with the main theme of the ELA 2017, Light and Connectivity, remote management options available on the market were also exposed in the stand of the company, and demonstrations of their operation were conducted.
Both the products presented and the activities carried out in the ATP Lighting hall had a great reception, as proven by the nearly 1000 visitors that came to the stand during the three days of the exhibition, 11.4 % more than last year.
A key conference: about the reliability and lifespan of the LED
ATP offered its vision on a matter of first magnitude and maximum interest for the lighting sector through the lecture "Reliability, protections and lifespan: key points for the choice of LED public lighting", given by the chief operating officer of the firm, Guillermo Redrado. The presentation detailed the basic aspects that should be taken into account, for the sake of reliability of the installation, when selecting one or another LED luminaire for a project. These factors, explained Redrado, are mainly three: heat dissipation, protections against electrical surges and architecture of the LED luminaire and its components.
Throughout the conference, Redrado showed various thermal tests focusing on the lifespan of the luminaire, which revealed which components of the street light were the most influential in reliability. In addition, the different types of electrical surges, the dangers they pose for the electronic components of the LED luminaires and the existing protection mechanisms were explained. Finally, ATP's COO described the most important parameters in order to evaluate accurately the quality of a luminaire, and also gave a clear and professional guide with a series of steps to always find a solution that offers the best warranties.
In the question time, other key issues emerged, such as light pollution and ways of reducing it, LED color temperature and amber LED. Likewise, the lighting situation in Mexico and the possibilities of adaptation of the LED technology to its electrical installations were discussed.
