An international jury of 50 experts examined the products according to evaluation criteria such as formal quality, ergonomics and durability
PAMPLONA —25/5/2021— The combination of products formed by the E Series floodlight and the KitLED® by ATP has received the Red Dot 2021 Lighting Design award, one of the most prestigious design awards available and for which thousands of candidates compete every year. Under the motto "In search of good design and innovation", an international jury of 50 experts examined the products according to evaluation criteria such as formal quality, ergonomics, durability and features applicable to their field, in this case lighting.
ATP's proposal is a device designed to obtain two different products from the same compact core: the E Series floodlight, versatile and with adjustable handle, and the KitLED® retrofit kit, in which the handle is replaced by fixings adaptable to any luminaire from any manufacturer. Both are available in two sizes to suit the needs of any luminaire or project: S model (200mm diameter) and M model (285mm diameter).
The E Series floodlight is an optimal solution for outdoor lighting or industrial lighting applications, very comfortable and easy to install, which also has the possibility of adjusting its vertical orientation in 2.5 degree intervals. On the other hand, the KitLED® retrofit kit is the ideal solution where an upgrade to LED is desired while preserving the original luminaire, usually because of its historical and aesthetic value as well as its contribution to the site's identity.
The design of these products features unique characteristics from ATP luminaires: totally hermetic IP66+ tightness, IK10+ impact protection, immunity to corrosion, Comfort Diffuser®, customizable optics and Class II. In addition, efficient thermal management has been prioritized in these luminaires. To this end, a smooth anodized aluminum heatsink (Laminar Heatsink®) has been incorporated which, being in contact with the air, maximizes the LED's dissipation and useful life.
To achieve the Class II rating, a polymeric tray was designed to support the electronic equipment and to separate the LED light source from any metal parts of the luminaire in which it is to be installed. This guarantees a high level of protection against surges and avoids the need for an earth connection in the installation.
Red Dot CEO Peter Zec was keen to emphasize the high level of the 2021 edition: "The winners of the Red Dot Design Award 2021 were particularly impressive this year. The design of their products is excellent, both in terms of aesthetics and functionality. It is not easy to prevail in a field with such strong competitors and win over our jury. I would therefore like to warmly congratulate the winners on their success". The E Series floodlight and KitLED® will be available online at the Red Dot website from 21 June.
