The forty-seventh edition of the congress, held in Vigo, focused on the impact of climate change, pollution and the cost of energy
PAMPLONA —8/10/2021— ATP attended its appointment with the XLVII National Lighting Symposium, the meeting organized annually by the Spanish Lighting Committee where experts from the sector from all over the country attend to share knowledge. This edition of the Symposium, held in Vigo from September 29th to October 1st, focused on the impact of climate change, pollution, and the cost of energy on lighting. Several round tables, keynote conferences, and 88 presentations took place this year.
ATP Lighting, which has been sponsoring this congress for more than three decades, was represented by three of its specialists: Andrés Armañanzas, director of the Lighting Department; Guillermo Redrado, vice president of operations and CEI North Zone delegate; and Sandra Solán, director of Electronic R & D. The presentations offered by these experts were the following:
• Standardization of the connectable elements in outdoor lighting luminaires, focusing on the need to standardize the specifications for electrical, mechanical, optical, thermal, and communication interfaces for interoperable components used in LED lighting, with the idea of producing ready-made luminaires so that each municipality can decide when and where to install a control node or any other connectable element.
• How to carry out an outstanding lighting project: the importance of the environment to evaluate ULOR, which addressed the key parameters to offer high-quality and efficient lighting, respectful of health and the environment, taking into account that today LED technology makes it possible to use the necessary and correct energy at all times. These factors include the screen effect of houses and trees, the reflection of light waves on the ground, or the analysis of local fauna and flora.
• Retrofit in street lighting luminaires: do we know what challenges we face?, which focused on the importance of homologating fully updated luminaires with the relevant markings (CE, ENEC, or others) and not only the retrofit kits installed in them.
With these contributions, ATP Lighting expressed its vision of where the sector should go and different ways to achieve a more effective, energy-efficient, and safe outdoor lighting adapted to the environmental needs of each place.
